Les méthodes de calcul des multiplications peuvent se regrouper en trois familles : l'usage de tables comme la multiplication "per gelosia" ; l'usage de transformations : nomogrammes, instruments logarithmiques ; enfin l'usage du calcul par additions répétées. C'est cette dernière famille que présente l'article (les jetons de Jean Tranchant, la machine de Leibniz, la "Curta"). Abstract The methods of calculating multiplications can be grouped into three families: the use of tables such as multiplication "per gelosia"; the use of transformations: nomograms, logarithmic instruments; finally, the use of calculation by repeated additions. It is this last family that presents the article (the tokens of Jean Tranchant, the machine of Leibniz, the "Curta").
